Adding new users

When you initially sign up for Method, only the user who signed up has access. This documentation will walk you through the steps of adding more users to your Method account.

  1. From the Method dashboard, click on the Gear icon and choose Preferences.
  2. In the Preferences menu, choose Users.
  3. The list will display existing Method users. Scroll down and click Invite User.
  4. Assuming your Method account has synced to QuickBooks with at least 1 employee in the list, you will be given the choice of inviting QuickBooks employees to Method. Otherwise, you can continue by selecting to invite someone else to Method.

    • Invite employees listed in QuickBooks: These employees already exist in your QuickBooks file. Ensure a valid email address is listed, and click the checkbox next to their name. You may select multiple employees.
    • Invite someone else: Type in a name and valid email for the user you’d like to add.
  5. Next you’re asked to set the permissions for the user(s) you’re inviting.
    Permissions pertain to how users interact with apps. You can learn more about permissions by checking out Managing user permissions.
    You have several choices in assigning permissions:
    1. Apply the same permissions as those assigned to an existing user by choosing a name from the dropdown list.
    2. Give the user Administrative permissions (ability to customize and manage apps they have access to)
    3. Give the user Customizer permissions (ability to customize apps they have access to)
    4. Assign permissions on an app-by-app basis by scrolling down to the list of packs and clicking expand. Give the user access, customize and/or managepermissions.
      The Edit, Create, Delete and Approve are called Rights, and must be enabled by the developer of the app before they can be used.
  6. You should also grant users access to the packs and apps they need to complete their work. Select the pack(s), then click expand to see the associated apps.
  7. Click Access on each app you want the user to access. If you have applied permissions 1, 2, or 3 in step 5 above, some of this may already be complete.
    If you invite multiple users at once, the permissions will apply to all of them. Don’t worry, you can always go back and change individual user permissions in the Manage User Permissions screen.
  8. When you’re finished, click Invite user. An email will be sent to the user’s email address with a link to Method’s sign-in page where they will be asked to create a password.
