Office365 server settings

There are two common configurations for Method users who are using Office365 email server settings. Below are there recommended email server settings (SMTP mail server) for Office365 users.

Using individual user Office365 email settings

  1. From your Method dashboard, click the Gear icon and choose Preferences > Email.
  2. Under Personal Settings un-check the box 'Use company email settings'.
  3. Scroll down and use the following settings email server:
    • For Email Server use "smtp.office365.com".
    • Fill in your Email Use Name, typically your full email address.
    • Enter your Email Password, the same password used to access your email.
    • Specify 587 for the Port.
    • Ensure SSL is checked. This is a security feature common for email servers.
    • When done, click Save.
    • Click Test User Email Server Settings and wait for on-screen confirmation. 

Using company Office365 email settings

If using the Company Settings for multiple Method users, you must make changes in both Method and the Office365 admin center. 

Office365 Setup

These steps can only be completed by someone who is an administrator in Office365.

  1. Log into the Office365 as an administrator:
  2. Acces the Admin Console.
  3. Within Admin, select Users.
  4. Select the user with matching email as the one currently being set up in Method.
  5. Under the user profile expand Mail Settings.
  6. In the Mail settings, click Edit Exchange properties.
  7. In Exchange properties, click Mailbox Delegation and add that user's email address to the Send As, Send on Behalf, and Full Access boxes.
  8. Click Save.

You're not done yet, now that you have set up Office365, you need to set up Method as well. 

Method Setup

  1. From your Method dashboard, click the Gear icon and choose Preferences > Email.
  2. In the email text box, change this to match the Office 365 email that you want to use.
  3. Scroll down to Company Settings.
  4. Use the following settings:
    • For Email Server use "smtp.office365.com".
    • Fill in your Email User Name, the email will match the address you gave permissions to
    • Enter your Email Password, the same password used to access the above email
    • Specify 587 for the Port.
    • Ensure SSL is checked. This is a security feature common for email servers.
    • When done, click Save.
    • Click Test Company Email Server Settings and wait for on-screen confirmation.

Clicking Test should send a successful test. If successful, click save and then try sending an email. If it's still unsuccessful, please give us a call on 1-888-925-6238 x2 or email us on support@method.me.
